Forever Friends Cross Stitch Cushions

Finished stitching both cushions finally.. completed faster than i planned initially cos it is less tedious compared to the clock.. the cross stitch squares are bigger and the picture of the bear is printed on the canvas provided so i dun have to count the squares, jus need to follow the colors and stitch which is so much more convenient..
B and mi went to IKEA to buy the inner cushions at $3.50 each, so cheap! den we went to Plaza Sing Spotlight to get fabric to sew on the canvas to act as a backing for the cushion.. i had no prob sewing the 3 sides of the cushion cover.. after stuffing in the cushion, how to seal up the last side??? tried to google for answers but dun understand the instructions, grrrrrr... mum kept giving mi suggestions but dun really know how to execute her ideas into reality.. haha.. so i came up wif my own solutions.. applied 2 different techniques to the 2 cushions.. one i actually sewed a row of small buttons at the bottom to clip it up so the cover is removable from the cushion.. for the second cushion, i wanted to try sewing the bottom side without revealing the threads on the outside.. managed to hide the threads but din grab the fabric properly so at the bottom part abit out of shape.. haha..

can you spot the difference btn the 2 pics? when i was taking pic of the cushions, there was a housefly hanging ard the cushions.. tried to smack it away before i positioned my camera but in the end when i took the pic, still c it in the pic! it's at the top left hand corner of the left cushion in the 1st pic... so gotta chase it away and retake again.. haha..

Romantic Life is Superb!

I was looking thru the fotos in my camera den realised i took these pics but nv post here.. forgot that i actually took them.. haha.. received our photoshoot items just before CNY.. maybe cos they had a long break during the CNY period tat's y they want to rush it out before gg on holiday.. watever the reasons, i must say tat Romantic Life is veri efficient and we didn't encounter any major hiccups with them when communicating thru emails.. although sometimes i need to explain how i wan the editing of a particular foto to be done in a few emails, they were prompt in replying and edit until i'm satisfied..
CD cover with one of our pics on it.. feel like a superstar having own album.. haha..

CD containing softcopy of all pics that we purchased.. the pic on the CD is the glass boutique of Romantic Life in Taipei, really very romantic lor.. haha..

Our photo album! It's very very heavy thou onli like a few pages.. pics are nv enuf ! but too exp to buy so many..

Zoom in on the cover pic.. i chose the pic and the color of the album.. the bright red flowers matches so well wif the bronze color **proud** hehe..

this is our guests' signature scroll chosen from one of our pics too.. as it is too long so gotta take 2 separate pics.. haha.. 1st half on top, 2nd half below.. the pic is blurred deliberately so as to make the signatures more visible.. love the effect!

This is our framed portrait.. we chose the pic and frame when we were in taipei.. nice combi ar.. i noe i'm thickskinned.. there's one more big poster but i forgot to take pic of it.. cos the courier man left it out on the delivery day and delivered it the next day.. now everything is kept in boxes and sealed up with masking tape le.. lazy to open up and take pic of it.. haha..

GSS coming so hope can grab some gd bargains for our new home.. it's gg to be a fun and fulfilling holiday!
Back to the topic.. haha.. I've completed the cross stitch forever friends clock.. took mi a few months, 4-5 months?? got a part i counted the squares wrongly den got to remove quite a big portion of threads and re-do.. B helped mi remove a big part of the wrong section, thanks! hehe.. if count wrongly and stitch le mus stitch more when the pic is showing den will realise the numbers out of position.. and it's a clock! mus be accurate de so no choice got to spend more time re-do..

Got it framed up.. the aunty and uncle asked mi y onli got the hour and minute dun hav the second hand cos look abit wierd.. told them tat's all in the package, no hav second hand.. haha.. but nvm lah, who cares about the seconds when looking at the clock.. the clock in my house oso dun hav second hand de so i'm used to it.. costs $70 to frame it.. abit exp hor.. but compared to the effort i spent stitching.....it's nothing! hope this clock will add an extra sense of warmth to our new home..

Updates Finally

It has been nearly a month since my last update here.. got a shock when i saw the counter showing less than 6 months to our big day.. time really flies! Been busy with my new job trying to adapt to the new environment, new colleagues and learning how to teach well from my mentors.. not much free time in sch to blog, facebook, or msn like my previous job.. and my sleeping time became as early as 9.30pm so no time to blog.. i noe i'm a pig but really need my beauty sleep badly.. haha..
Our parents met on 4 April at Tiong Bahru Plaza Lao Beijing for dinner.. B and i went for a run before the dinner and we, together with my parents and sis, were 15 mins late.. B's parents and 2 aunts reached 15 mins earlier so they actually waited half an hr for us.. so paiseh! before the dinner, i was quite worried cos we don't wan to go thru the traditions so there's nth to discuss actually.. my parents asked us wat we want so tat they can tell B's mum on our behalf.. so in the end, when B's mum popped the questions, they jus say everything no need.. not sure if B's mum and aunts were unhappy anot cos we were late den when asked abt the bride price, cakes and other procedures, my parents jus say no need jus keep it simple for us.. but overall, as we ate and chat esp when the 4D results were out, it became less serious and light-hearted.. glad that it was over!
Another update abt our home.. we went to Lifestyle 21 home exhibition at expo couple of weeks ago and bought a coffee table at $620 including delivery charge.. slightly over our budget for coffee table but it's difficult to find something that we both like alot.. it is a black and round table with a piece of high pressure glass on the surface and 4 little stools hiding under the table which saves space and provides extra seats for guests conveniently.. the small table is suitable for playing some card or board games for 4 as well.. we oso bought an electric stove cooker at $1288.. big hole in our pockets! but the money is well spent, i hope.. haha..
We are slowly searching for other items for our home.. will be getting Simmons Beautyrest queen size mattress during the GSS.. saw a Kelvin Giormanni sofa that we liked but price abit too steep so KIV 1st.. we still need TV console and bed frame.. will be making a trip to sungei kadut international furniture centre to search for great bargains, let us noe if any of u r interested to join us on our furniture hunt..

Invitation Cards

As we have decided to go ahead with our ROM at Furama Riverfront, it is time to think about the design of our invitation cards.. Since I'm on leave for the past 2 weeks plus, I arranged with our coordinator for collection of our invitation cards.. Sis was on leave last thur so she accompany me to go collect the cards.. went to the Waterfall Lounge to take a look, still got the 'wow' feeling when i see the place.. haha.. Sis say didn't know the place is so nice.. the stage in the middle was demolished so the place looks more spacious.. they added a black piano at the side so got the 'classy' feeling.. haha.. nice change!

Furama Riverfront gave us 2 designs of cards to choose.. guess which one we chose? haha.. gotta start tinking wat to write in the invitation card and send for printing.. busy busy!

P.S: Parents meeting session on 4 April tentatively.. more updates to follow!

Change of MUA

The make-up artist I engaged previously is Jade Yamada.. She informed me last week that she is pregnant and by Oct, it would be difficult for her to do make-up for me :( so gotta engage another MUA.. She intro 2 MUAs to me, both are quite gd by looking at their portfolios.. I msg both of them to ask if they are available on 10 Oct and their charges.. Jennis called me to explain everything and after speaking to her, got nice feelings abt her so confirmed her immediately... the other MUA got reply me lar but tink she didn't do enuf like Jennis sooo too bad lor.. and she charges more than Jennis! but Jennis charges more than Jade.. haha.. Hopefully, she can turn me into a beautiful bride on 10 Oct! View her portfolio at http://www.jenniswong.com

Updates of Our New Home

Our house is nearing completion already.. doing painting works and installation of windows now.. guess 2 more months will be ready le.. everytime take MRT pass by lakeside will take a look at the progress and it always seems to be a faraway dream.. even now...
hav yet to settle the guest list prob.. we onli wan to invite close frens and relatives to our ROM ceremony but our mothers like wan to invite sooooo many ppl.. we chose hi-tea at hotel is to hav a simple ceremony wif close frens n relatives and to do away wif the traditional customs but.. haiz.. both mums keep telling mi they wan this wan that, sometimes it's really choking mi.. i understand tat parents will wan everybody to know tat their son/daughter is getting married but i dun c the point of inviting those relatives whom we dun even get to see once a yr to our wedding.. if invite all, the lounge at the hotel will be super packed and not enuf seats for all which is not veri nice plus it will exceed our budget as well.. told them we not having dinner banquet, no space to invite so many ppl le.. dunno if they will listen..
have emailed the hotel to ask if we cancel our reservation now can get back our deposit anot.. if both mums insist on the way they wan, we'll jus cancel everything.. hav chosen another date, 6th june, to sign papers at the ROM.. it's a sunday and during school holiday which is better for mi.. since our house will be ready soon, we can collect keys earlier too.. cos hdb wans our marriage cert in order to collect keys.. we'll see how things go 1st..
anyway, back to our house.... took some pics when i was on bus 30 to work from B's place.. these 2 pics were taken 1 or 2 mths ago.. now most of the blocks already painted nicely.. one of the cranes on top oso removed already..

Bought our first piece of furniture durng the CNY sale at The Furniture Mall.. it's a veri simple and cosy dining set.. i've been looking around wif a design similar to this in my mind and it was really love at first sight.. B's first concern was 'is the table strong enuf to put steamboat?' haha.. he's worried next time cannot eat steamboat at home.. the salesman assured him it is made of solid wood den after some knocking to test the sound of the wood, he said ok.. the 2 benches are big enuf for 4 adults.. can someone steal 2 wooden stools from ya kun for us? realised their stools match our dining set so if got 2 stools at the other 2 sides den can seat 6 pax.. haha.. we'll look out for tat 2 stools when shopping for the other furnitures next time.. this dining set costs us $299 plus $30 delivery charge.. quite a gd deal so we bought it on the spot..

Another update.. we have settled on our flooring too! confirmed on having bamboo flooring for our living room and 3 bedrooms.. B is a veri 'green' person so he found this bamboo flooring company online.. bamboo is more eco-friendly than other solid timber cos it takes 4-6 years to mature unlike other timber which takes at least 15 yrs to mature.. bamboo flooring is still new in s'pore so price is more exp than those teak parquet flooring.. after considering its strength and durability compared to other woods, bamboo is a lifelong investment so the money spent is worth it.. costs us 9K.. the company that we engaged is Star Bamboo.. can find more interesting info on it's website.. http://www.starbamboo.com
can tell the boss is oso a veri 'green' person.. haha..
